Department

The Department of Early Childhood Education and Educational Planning (TEPAES) was founded in 1987 and since then its contribution to Greek education has been significant through solidly structured programs at undergraduate & postgraduate level, high-level research in educational sciences as well as systematic educational activities.

The Department's innovative activities are developed on the basis of two structural positions:

That the subjects and courses are identical to the phenomena and problems encountered in educational practice and not to the traditional scientific disciplines. On this basis, the functional and critical development of innovative fields and dimensions is promoted, integrated both in the courses and in research, administrative planning and the practice of human relations.

That the studies provided in the Department are in line, on the one hand, with the modern directions of the Sciences of Education & in particular of Preschool (mental structures and development, psychological structures and communication, social structures and personality, cultural environment and cognitive development, learning activities and pedagogical management, critical-creative function and educational practice), on the other hand, with the development of the Sciences of Educational Design (analysis and design of teaching activities in special populations, new flexible forms of education and educational material, concept and methods of evaluation).

The scientific, technological and professional training of TEPAES students allows them to become capable of planning, implementing and evaluating educational actions, services and products for both preschool and special populations.
